The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is a non-profit organization that regulates athletes of one thousand two hundred institutions, conferences, organizations, and individuals. It also organizes the athletic programs of many colleges and universities in the United States and Canada and helps more than 480,000 college student-athletes who compete annually in college sports. The organization is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The NCAA's primary goal is to protect young people from the dangerous effects of drug abuse. The organization also strives to promote an environment that is conducive to academic achievement for student-athletes. In addition, the NCAA provides opportunities for its members to participate in athletics at the collegiate level.

NCAA Football History

The first intercollegiate football game was played on November sixth, eighteen sixty-nine between Rutgers and Princeton universities. Today, college football has grown into a multi-billion dollar industry.

The Bowl Championship Series (BCS) is a system that was used to determine the national champion of Division I FBS college football from two thousand and four to two thousand and thirteen. The BCS was created to ensure that the two best teams in the country would face each other in a national championship game, regardless of whether they were from different conferences or not.

The BCS was replaced by the College Football Playoff (CFP) system in two thousand and fourteen. The CFP is a four-team tournament that determines the national champion of Division I FBS college football. The playoff system is designed to be fairer than the BCS, as it allows teams from any conference to compete for a spot in the national championship game.

Noteworthy NCAA Football

The 2017 college football season is underway, and there are already some notable games and storylines. Here are a few things to keep an eye on as the season progresses.

One of the most interesting storylines early on has been the success of freshman quarterbacks. In week one, UCLA's Josh Rosen threw for 351 yards and three touchdowns in a come-from-behind win over Texas A&M. Just down the road in Berkeley, California, another freshman quarterback made his mark in his debut. Jaylon Johnson led Cal to an upset victory over North Carolina with two touchdown passes.

Other freshmen have also had big moments in the first few weeks of the season. Stanford running back Bryce Love had a touchdown run of 62 yards in a win over Rice. Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray, a former five-star recruit, had two touchdown passes in a win over UTEP.

NCAA Football Ticket Prices

The average cost of an NCAA Football ticket is $65. However, prices can range anywhere from $40 to over $100 depending on the game and seating location. For example, a ticket to see the University of Alabama play at home in Bryant-Denny Stadium will cost significantly more than a ticket to see a small school play at their home stadium.
